Stitchin' in the Summertime

I haven't finished the Grandchild beach throw yet -- but it's sooo hard to quilt in the hot weather !!

I decided to startup a Blackbird Designs Sampler -- "Christmas Garden".

If you haven't seen a closeup picture of this most lovely piece of work -- get to your local embroidery shop and check it out!

One of the things that I love about this sampler is that there is room in the design to stitch 5 different sets of initials !   Thanks to my brother-in-law Vinnie, I was able to learn more about my genealogy and I'm so excited to stitch the initials of some very special women into this piece.

Another item to note:  This sampler is completed with only 4 beautiful over dyed flosses -- no changing floss every other stitch !!

Special thanks to my friend Debbie Wick for introducing me to the lovely work by Blackbird Designs.  Visit Debbie's Blog to see some awesome quilts and stitching of Blackbird designs that Debbie has completed.

Have a wonderful day!

Hugs,
Karen

  1. Have been aware of Blackbird Designs for a while but haven't done/purchased....yet. Really like the fact that the colors are limited to such a few....and ones that are my fave! My sewing room facing West, 2nd floor, in an old farmhouse.....even with the A/C, it is a 'cooker'. No quilting at the moment. We (S.E. MN) are still in heat without rain. Water conservation is strongly encouraged (although one community has already put restrictions in place). Happy sewing and stay cool.....hugs, Doreen
